As a retired District Manager for a National Chain, I understood one rule... win every customer one at a time.  That means doing what is best for the customer, treating everyone the way we'd want to be treated, with integrity, professionalism, transparency and over communicating along the way.  Some people get annoyed when we try to tell them every step but at teh end of the day, we don't know what you know or don't know so we assume nothing.
